CU teacher Saidul Islam suspended over sexual harassment

The Chittagong University (CU) has suspended Mohammad Saidul Islam Sarkar, an assistant professor in the Department of Oceanography, over several allegations including sexual harassment.
The suspension was approved during the university's 562nd syndicate meeting held on Friday (1 August).
Alongside the suspension, the syndicate also decided to form a new committee to further investigate the allegations against him.
Confirming the development, CU Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin told TBS, "Saidul Islam Sarkar has been temporarily suspended based on the syndicate's decision. A final verdict will be made after the second investigation committee submits its report."
Sarkar is a member of the Awami League's agricultural subcommittee. In July, students from the Oceanography Department declared him "unwanted" due to his opposition to their movement on campus.
