Bangladesh secures 94 'Top in the World' awards in Cambridge exams
This year, Bangladeshi students secured 94 “Top in the World” awards given to candidates achieving the highest marks globally in specific subjects, along with 41 top in Bangladesh distinctions
A total of 124 students from Bangladesh have been recognised for their exceptional academic performance in the June 2025 Cambridge examination series, as the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards (OCLA) took place today (27 November) at the Radisson Blu Dhaka.
The annual awards, jointly hosted by the International Education group at Cambridge University Press & Assessment and the British Council, celebrate high-performing learners from more than 40 countries.
This year, Bangladeshi students secured 94 "Top in the World" awards given to candidates achieving the highest marks globally in specific subjects, along with 41 top in Bangladesh distinctions.
Professor Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka, commended the students and emphasised the need for quality education and collaborative initiatives to guide the next generation.
Cambridge alumni also took the stage to share their journeys, including BUET student Rizq Amin Khan, Armed Forces Medical College student Samiha Sehmeem Khan, and Bangladesh Air Force officer Flight Lieutenant Hisham. Students of Glenrich International School performed a cultural segment that added colour to the event.
Awards were presented in several categories throughout the programme. High Achievement awards were handed over by British Council Director of Operations Zunayed Ahmed and Cambridge Academic Advisor Juliet Gomes.
The Top in Country accolades were distributed by Cambridge's Regional Director for South Asia Vinay Sharma and British Council Business Development Director Tahnee Yeasmin, who closed the event with a vote of thanks.
Organisers said the recognitions reflect Bangladesh's growing academic excellence within the global Cambridge community and underscore the strength of long-standing education partnerships between Cambridge, the British Council, and local institutions.
