The test is being conducted in multiple centres, including Dhaka College, Eden College, Titumir College, Bangla College, Begum Badrunnesa College, Kabi Nazrul College, and Shaheed Suhrawardy College
The first-ever admission test of the proposed Dhaka Central University is being held today (22 August), with six candidates competing for each seat in the 'Kha' unit under the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
The one-hour admission test for the four-year honours courses will take place from 3pm to 4pm. A total of 24,094 students applied for 4,498 seats in the faculty, meaning around 5.36 or roughly six students will contest per seat. However, 890 applicants later withdrew their applications through refund requests.
The test is being conducted in multiple centres, including Dhaka College, Eden College, Titumir College, Bangla College, Begum Badrunnesa College, Kabi Nazrul College, and Shaheed Suhrawardy College. An interim administration team of the university, along with a University Grants Commission (UGC) monitoring team, is overseeing the examinations.
The test will follow the MCQ method with a total of 100 marks. Candidates will face negative marking, with 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer. Bangla and English will carry 50 marks in total, while another 50 marks will come from general knowledge questions. Additionally, academic results from SSC and HSC examinations will be considered, adding 20 marks to the merit list.
Professor AKM Elias, member of the interim administration of Dhaka Central University, said, "We have taken all necessary preparations to ensure the admission test is held smoothly. The Ministry of Education and the UGC are extending their cooperation in this regard."
