4.27 crore students to get free books in 2020

Primary and secondary students are set to get new textbooks on the first morning of 2020 as over 35.31 crore copies are ready for free distribution.
The government has made all preparations to deliver the books to 4.27 crore students from pre-primary to Class X.
The government started the Textbook Festival 10 years ago by distributing books among students across the country as a New Year gift.

The education ministry has printed more than 35.3 crore textbooks to be distributed among the students of pre-primary, primary, Ebtedayee, secondary, Dakhil, Dakhil (Vocational), and SSC (Vocational).
The government has spent Tk929 crore for printing and distributing the books.
"Children who will come to schools in the morning will return home with a set of new textbooks. We have completed the preparations," National Curriculum and Textbook Board Chairman Prof Narayan Chandra Saha told The Business Standard.
The books have already been dispatched to the educational institutes, he added.
This year, all books were printed by local printing presses and the overall quality has improved compared to the previous years.
The textbook board gave the work order for printing the books to 400 presses across the country.
The inaugural ceremony of this year's Textbook Festival will be held at Savar Adhar Chandra Government High School on the first day of January 2020.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni and Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury are expected to be present at the ceremony.
