Edu system will be enviable globally; parents abroad will want to send their children to Bangladesh: Bobby Hajjaj
He also said the education minister had outlined a reform framework, with a detailed plan set to be announced tomorrow
Bangladesh's education system will become enviable to the world, so that parents from neighbouring countries would want to send their children here, State Minister for Education Bobby Hajjaj said today (18 January).
"The children of Bangladesh will no longer be eager to go abroad. This is our dream and we will work to realise this dream," he said while speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat on his first day in office.
He said sweeping reforms would be introduced under the guidance of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and the leadership of Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.
"There is no area of education, primary, secondary, tertiary, vocational or madrasah, that does not need comprehensive rebuilding. Problems exist everywhere, and we have already started working on solutions," Bobby said.
He also said the education minister had outlined a reform framework, with a detailed plan set to be announced tomorrow.
Expressing optimism, the state minister said experienced secretaries and officials across the education sector were backing the initiative.
"With their support and the people's mandate, we are working to turn this dream into reality," he said.
History textbooks will be prepared after consulting multiple levels of historians so they meet international standards, he said.
Bobby added, "Rather than dwelling on past mistakes, our goal is to move forward correctly," Bobby said.
He added that although detailed discussions had yet to take place since the new leadership had only recently assumed office, the ministry would maintain regular engagement with media and stakeholders.
"We have just taken responsibility. But I can clearly say that we will follow the same methods used by developed countries in preparing textbooks, and we will work with accountability," he said.
Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Rehana Parveen, Technical and Madrasah Education Division Secretary Muhammad Rafiqul Islam and other senior officials were also present at the press conference.
