DU students announce ‘July Revive’ programme demanding AL ban
They have accused the interim government of avoiding discussions on banning the Awami League by using “cunning” arguments and citing opposition from various political parties

A section of Dhaka University (DU) students has announced a two-week-long programme titled "July Revive" under the banner of the "Genocidal Awami League Ban Movement", demanding a ban on the Awami League and justice for alleged genocide.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at Madhur Canteen of DU this afternoon (23 March).
Student representatives from Rajshahi University, Jagannath University, Dhaka College, and other institutions were present.
Speaking at the press conference, DU student Mosaddek Ali Ibn Muhammad, organiser of the movement, accused the interim government of avoiding discussions on banning the Awami League by using "cunning" arguments and citing opposition from various political parties.
"In July, not only Sheikh Hasina as an individual but the Awami League as a party carried out genocide," he claimed, alleging that even those not directly involved in criminal acts had silently supported it.
He further stated that the party had compiled lists of activists at the neighbourhood, upazila, and district levels and would take "cruel revenge" if it survived.
"For the past few days, we have been organising various programmes under the 'Genocidal Awami League Ban Movement.' There is widespread support among students and the public for banning the Awami League and ensuring justice for the genocide. To strengthen this movement, we are launching the 'July Revive' programme for the next two weeks," he said.
As part of this programme, he announced activities such as "meetings with martyr and injured families, public outreach, discussions with leaders of political and social organisations, engagements with civil society, online and offline campaigns, and wall writing," all aimed at pressing their demands.
