Dipjol sued over alleged acid attack, assault

A case has been filed against popular actor and film producer Monowar Hossain Dipjol on charges of acid attack and physical assault.
The complaint was submitted by one Rajida Akhter, 35, to the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam today (8 July), confirmed the complainant's lawyer Advocate Mujahidul Islam.
Dipjol's personal assistant Md Faisal has also been named as an accused.
Upon hearing the plaintiff's statement, the court ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate and submit a report.
The plaintiff's complaint states that on 2 June, at the Gabtoli sacrificial cattle market in Dhaka, upon hearing that actor Dipjol had arrived, the victim went there as a fan to speak with him. At that time, Dipjol reportedly told his personal assistant (PS), "How did this woman get in here? Get her out."
Afterward, the PS and 8 to 10 others physically harassed and assaulted her, attempting to drag her out with a rope. While injured, the victim pleaded, "Let me go, I will seek justice from Dipjol bhai." In response, the PS allegedly said, "If you go inside, Dipjol bhai will kill you. Beating you like this won't satisfy my anger."
She further stated that, under the PS's instruction, someone brought acid from inside. The acid was then poured onto the plaintiff's neck. Crying in pain, she went home and later received treatment at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital from 4 June to 11 June.
When she went to file a case on 12 June, Dipjol's PS allegedly called and threatened her not to proceed with the lawsuit.
