Police have rescued a woman with acid burns, whose hands and feet were tied and her body wrapped in polythene, from the side of the Barishal-Bhola highway.

The woman was found early this morning (29 June) in the Talukdarhat area under the jurisdiction of Barishal Bandar Police Station.

Confirming the incident, Barishal Bandar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said, "The woman has been taken to the One Stop Crisis Centre at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Her treatment is ongoing. Details will be provided later."

According to locals, several businessmen on their way to work noticed the woman lying abandoned by the roadside in the early hours of the morning. They said she appeared to have been burned with acid, and they immediately informed the police.

Police arrived at the scene and took the woman to the hospital.

A duty doctor at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital said, "The police brought in a middle-aged woman with acid injuries. She is currently undergoing treatment."
