Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said on Sunday that the digital cattle market could be a possible alternative to cope with the increasing pressure on the sale of sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.

The minister made the remark at a regular briefing from his residence on Sunday morning.

He emphasised the need to increase supervision and security on online platforms for selling sacrificial animals.

Also emphasising the need to reduce irregularities and corruption, the minister said, "The government will stand against irregularities and corruption in all sectors including the health sector."

"The Anti-Corruption Commission has the freedom to investigate and take action wherever there is corruption," he added.

The government will take action against any irregularities and corruption even if the corrupt are from their own party, he said.

The Minister also called upon law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation into the coronavirus sample test fraud by two institutions, and bring the accused under the law.
