Deadline to submit Cucsu nomination papers extended by one day
Nomination papers can now be collected until 5:00pm today and submitted by 5:00pm tomorrow (18 September).

The deadline for collecting and submitting nomination papers for the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) and hall union elections has been extended by one day.
This follows a written request from the Chittagong University (CU) unit of Chhatra Dal, Chief Election Commissioner Prof Monir Uddin confirmed.
"We held an emergency meeting in response to the demand. In the meeting, we decided to extend the deadline for collecting and submitting nomination papers by one day. That means students can collect nomination papers until 5:00pm today and submit them until 5:00pm tomorrow," he said.
Today (17 September), at around 11:30am, CU Chhatra Dal General Secretary Abdullah Al Noman submitted the application requesting an extension of the nomination collection and submission deadline. Following a commission meeting at around 12:15pm, the decision was made to extend the time.
As a result, nomination papers can now be collected until 5:00pm today and submitted by 5:00pm tomorrow (18 September).
"We had demanded a two-day extension, but only one day has been granted," Abdullah Al Noman said.
"When we first went with the students' demand for more time, we were initially told, 'It's not possible.' The one-day extension is not just our demand; it is the demand of the students," he added.
In its written application, Chhatra Dal stated, "Many students are still staying in their village homes after being injured in attacks by local residents on 30 and 31 August. At the same time, final exams are underway in various departments, preventing many from collecting and submitting nomination papers within the scheduled period. Extending the deadline by two more days would have ensured the participation of all students."
Originally, the last time to collect nomination forms was 3:30pm yesterday (16 September). However, the Election Commission had already decided to continue distributing forms late into the night. The previous deadline for submitting forms was 5:00pm today.
Chhatra Dal plans to contest the election in coordination with students injured in the recent clash between local residents and students at Chittagong University. The organisation also plans to form a coalition with other groups to field a joint panel.
