Cyclone Bulbul approaching; maritime ports asked to hoist signal No 3
The cyclonic storm is likely to intensify further
Cyclone Bulbul is centered over the Bay of Bengal. As it is moving north-northwestwards, maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant warning signal number three.
All fishing boats over north bay have been advised not to venture into deep water, to take shelter immediately and to remain in shelter until further notice.
The Met Office said in a special weather bulletin that the cyclone was centered about 820km south-southwest of Chattogram port, 755km south-southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 770km south of Mongla port and 740km south of Payra port on Thursday at 6pm.

The cyclonic storm is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction. Cyclone Bulbul may affect maritime ports and coastal areas with gusty winds and heavy rain.
The Met Office special bulletin also states that the maximum sustained wind speed within 54kms of the cyclone centre is about 62kph rising to 88kph in gusts or squalls.
The sea will be very rough near the cyclone centre.
"The West Bengal and Odisha coasts of India might experience squally winds with wind-speed reaching up to 50 kmph from Friday evening, which might gradually increase thereafter," Indian English-language newspaper The Times of India reported, quoting the India Meteorological Department.
