A student of Chittagong University (CU) was assaulted by unidentified attackers at the university's Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall yesterday (28 September).

The victim, Hayat Ullah, is a student in the academic session 2019-20 of the Oceanography Department.

On behalf of the victim, a student named Saidur Rahman Zubair filed a complaint with the proctor's office over the incident, CU Proctor Tanvir Mohammad Hayder Arif told The Business Standard.

According to the complaint, three unidentified men picked up Hayat Ullah from the zero point area of the campus around 9:20am and took him to room number 324 of Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall.

Then, 10-12 people including those three started beating him with sticks and wounded him in various parts of his body, reads the complaint.

Later, an assistant proctor on duty rescued Hayat Ullah and took him to CU Medical Centre. He was later transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

"We have given medical treatment to the victim. We will take swift action against those involved in the incident," said Proctor Tanvir.
