Woman, man arrested over alleged gang rape of housewife in Satkhira
Sedative medication was mixed into the victim’s food.
Police have arrested a woman and a man over the alleged gang rape of a 40-year-old housewife who was brought from Khulna's Koyra to Satkhira's Tala on the promise of arranging medical treatment.
The suspects, Shipra and Anup, were arrested from the Kapilmuni area of Paikgachha upazila in Khulna yesterday (16 August). Another person is also accused in the case and remains absconding.
According to police and the case statement, the victim, from Ghugrakathi village in Koyra, was taken on Thursday (13 August) afternoon on the promise of arranging treatment at a private clinic in Satkhira Sadar.
Later that evening, she was allegedly taken to a rented house in the Tala Bridge intersection area on the pretext that it had become too late to find a doctor in Satkhira.
According to her relatives, a young man named Raju took her to the house, claiming that he worked at a private clinic in Satkhira.
The case statement alleges that, with the help of a woman living at the house, sedative medication was mixed into the victim's food. After she became unconscious, Raju allegedly raped her.
After regaining consciousness, the victim reportedly realised what had happened and told the woman at the house. The woman allegedly verbally abused her and threatened to circulate a video of the incident on social media.
The case further alleges that Raju and another young man raped her several times during the night.
The following morning, the victim allegedly managed to leave the house and went to Tala Police Station with a relative to file a complaint.
Tala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Abu Bakar Siddique said a case was recorded on Friday following an initial investigation into allegations that the woman had been rendered unconscious and raped.
"Tala Police Station Case No 10 was filed on 14 August 2026 against two men and a woman," he said.
The victim was sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for a medical examination, the officer added.
As part of the investigation, police conducted a raid in the Kapilmuni area of Paikgachha on Sunday and arrested Shipra and Anup.
