Woman hacked to death in Ctg, brother arrested

A woman named Senowara Begum, 65, was hacked to death last night (2 March) in Eidgao Boropukurpar area of Halishahar police station area in Chattogram.

Another brother of the deceased, Sekandar Mia Robin, filed a murder case with Halishahar Police Station accusing Jane Alam, said Police.
Quoting eyewitnesses, police said that during Taraweeh prayers, Jane Alam went to his sister's house. At that time, an argument broke out between them over unpaid money. At one stage, Jane Alam seriously injured Senowara Begum by hacking her with a sharp weapon. She died on the spot. After the incident, he allegedly tried to flee with gold ornaments, but locals detained him and informed the police.
Halishahar Police Station OC Kazi Muhammad Sultan Ahsan Uddin said, "Preliminary investigations suggest that this killing occurred due to a family dispute. Police responded swiftly upon receiving the news and arrested the accused. The body of the deceased has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy."
SI Mosharraf Hossain, second officer of Halishahar Police Station, said that after the arrest, locals became agitated while police were taking the accused to the station. They blocked the police vehicle and staged a protest, demanding that the alleged killer be handed over to them. Later, police brought the situation under control and safely took him to the station.
