Motorcycle, helmet, fake plate used in the attack on Osman Hadi recovered
They were found abandoned in the capital's West Agargaon area
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has recovered the motorcycle, helmet, and fake number plate used in the attack on Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Osman Hadi.
CTTC recovered the motorcycle, helmet, and fake number plate abandoned in the Banalata Residential Area of West Agargaon under Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in the capital last Sunday (14 December).
According to CTTC sources, the team uncovered the change of the motorcycle's number plate used in the attack by analysing CCTV footage.
Based on a tip-off, the motorcycle and helmet were recovered from the ground-floor parking of a house in the Banalata Residential Area. Later, the fake number plate was recovered abandoned from inside a manhole.
CTTC sources said a thorough investigation was conducted to identify the ownership of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle used in the attack was first owned by a man named Abdur Rahman. Later, it was sold successively to individuals named Shahidul, Russel, Marketplace, Obaidul Islam, Anarul, and then to Anarul again, before being returned to Obaidul, and finally purchased by a person named Shuvo.
After transferring the ownership eight times, the motorcycle was purchased in the name of Mainuddin Islam using the national identity card of Md Kabir, an associate of the prime suspect, Faisal.
The recovered motorcycle, helmet, and fake number plate have been handed over to the detective branch of police (DB).
