Human trafficking ringleader operating in Libya arrested at Dhaka airport: Police

Police have arrested a man named Md Fakhruddin from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, identifying him as the ringleader of a human trafficking syndicate operating in Libya.
Additionally, traffic helper Shawkat Ali of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has also been detained on charges of assisting in his attempted escape, reports Prothom Alo daily.
The arrests were made yesterday (16 March) by the airport police in Dhaka.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Taslima Akhter of the Airport Police Station told Prothom Alo that both individuals had been detained, and one of the victims is expected to file a case against them.
According to police sources, Fakhruddin arrived in Dhaka from Cairo on a flight at around 5:45pm on Sunday.
He has long been accused of smuggling Bangladeshi expatriates to Libya, holding them captive, torturing them, and extorting ransom from their families, police said.
