Faridpur child rape accused arrested in Madaripur
According to the case statement, the incident took place on Wednesday at noon in the Bilmamudpur area while the student was returning home after an exam at school.
Police have arrested the main accused in a rape case involving a third-grade student in Faridpur Sadar upazila, three days after the incident.
The accused, Jihad Khan, 28, was arrested from the Shibchar area of Madaripur district last night (16 May), police said. He is the son of Hashem Khan of Uttar Sadipur village under Aliabad union in Faridpur.
Sub-Inspector Hasan Shikdar of Kotwali Police Station said police launched drives in different parts of the country after the victim's family filed the case.
He said the accused would be produced before the court today (17 May).
According to the case statement, the incident took place on Wednesday (13 May) at noon in the Bilmamudpur area while the student was returning home after an exam at school.
The accused allegedly made the girl unconscious using toxic chemicals and took her to a nearby maize field, where he raped her.
After regaining consciousness upon hearing the Adhan, the victim allegedly saw Jihad standing nearby. When she said she would disclose the incident, he threatened to kill her, according to the case statement.
The victim later went to a neighbouring house and informed others about the incident.
Following the incident, the victim's mother filed a case with Kotwali Police Station the same day.
The child is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, police said.
