Habibullah Bahar College Vice Principal Saifur Rahman hacked to death in Uttarkhan
The incident took place at Saifur’s residence in the Uttarkhan area of Dhaka

Habibullah Bahar College Vice Principal Md Saifur Rahman Bhuiyan was hacked to death by unidentified individuals in the early hours today (10 March).
The incident took place at Saifur's residence in the Uttarkhan area of Dhaka.
"There are [injury] marks of locally made weapons on various parts of his body. The police are investigating the incident," Uttarkhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ziaur Rahman said.
According to locals and police, Saifur was initially rushed to a private hospital in Uttara and later shifted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
OC Ziaur said Saifur had been living in a rented house in the area since August or September last year. A few days ago, he brought home a woman and a youth, identifying them as his sister-in-law and nephew. During Sehri time on Monday, when Saifur went to the bathroom, those two individuals hacked him. Then they shut the bathroom door and fled.
Later, Saifur managed to come out of there and went to the balcony in a bloody state, screaming for help. Noticing that, his landlord and other tenants rescued him and took him to the hospital. There, the doctor declared him dead, the police official said.
Saifur had been separated from his wife who lives in Shantinagar with their two children, the OC said.
When she was informed about her husband's death, she refused to claim the body and also denied the police's request to go to the station, he added.
The OC said Saifur's body was sent to the morgue of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital. It will be handed over to Saifur's elder brother after an autopsy.
"The filing of a murder case is underway. A drive has also been launched to arrest the suspects," OC Ziaur said.
Rezaul Raihan, a former student of the Habibullah Bahar College, said, "Saifur Rahman Sir was attacked and killed with locally made weapons. There are marks of being cut by a machete on his neck and head."
Raihan also said that after the July-August uprising last year, there was a reshuffling of teachers at the college in the face of protests by some students. Saifur was appointed as the vice principal as part of the reshuffling.
