Mitford murder: 2 more accused arrested
A total of seven people have so far been apprehended in connection with Sohag’s murder.

Police have arrested two more people accused in the case filed over the murder of Lal Chand alias Sohag that took place in front of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka.
The arrests were made this morning (13 July), according to Mohammad Jasim Uddin, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Lalbagh Division.
The two arrestees have been identified as Rajib and Sajib. They were detained from Dhaka and an adjacent area of the capital city.
With these arrests, a total of seven people have now been apprehended in connection with Sohag's murder.
DC Jasim declined to provide further details about the identities of the two beyond confirming that they were named in the case.
Earlier today, talking to reporters at the Secretariat, Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, "The government is treating the brutal murder incident in Mitford with utmost importance. Of the 19 people mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR) filed in this murder case, seven have already been arrested by police, the RAB, and the army.
"Intelligence teams are conducting operations in various locations outside Dhaka to arrest the remaining accused."
He continued, "Immediately after the incident on Wednesday evening, police arrested the accused Moin, and the army arrested Tareq with weapons from the scene. Two more people were arrested on Friday afternoon.
"Additionally, one person was arrested on Friday night. Last night, DB [Detective Branch] arrested two more people in connection with this incident. In total, seven people have been arrested in this incident so far, of whom six have been identified from the video footage [of the crime]."
The home adviser said if more accused are found during the investigation, they will also be brought under the law. "The DB team is actively working on this matter," he added.
According to witnesses, at around 6pm on 9 July, a group of assailants attacked Sohag near Gate No-3 of the Mitford Hospital with stones and sharp weapons, killing him on the spot in front of bystanders.
CCTV camera footage of the attack, which has since gone viral, showed the assailants attacking the victim's dead body in a display of disturbing brutality.
Sohag's sister Manjuara Begum filed a case at Kotwali Police Station naming 19 individuals and many unidentified individuals.
