Sakhawat Hossain Sayantha appointed dean of BMU's dental faculty

Dr Sakhawat Hossain Sayantha, associate professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Bangladesh Medical University (BMU), has been appointed as the new dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.
The information was revealed in a press release issued by BMU today (13 July).
According to the press release, Dr Sakhawat was appointed as the new dean of the Faculty of Dentistry through an office order signed by BMU Registrar Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam on 2 July 2025.
According to the office order, Dr Sakhawat Hossain has been given the additional responsibility of serving as dean to facilitate the examinations and other urgent academic activities for the January-July session, alongside his existing duties in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department.
Dr Hossain is currently serving as an associate professor at BMU's Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He obtained his BDS degree from Dhaka Dental College in 2000 and completed his MS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Bangladesh Medical University (formerly BSMMU) in 2007. He has presented several scientific research papers both at home and abroad and has more than 30 publications in national and international journals.
Dr Sayanth is a life member of the Bangladesh Dental Society, Bangladesh Oral Cancer Society, Dhaka University Alumni Association (DUAA), and Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB).
