Police have arrested an accused named Shajahan. The prime accused Sumon absconded.

Saurav, who is a sales agent of CocaCola and the prime witness of the incident, said on Thursday morning when he along with Tofazzal went to Balurmath in Narayanganj after delivering the goods, Shajahan, an employee of Raja Steel Mill, and Sumon, brother of the owner, stopped the covered van.

They asked Tofazzal for free CocaCola. As Tofazzal refused they snatched some bottles of CocaCola from the vehicle, and started beating Tofazzal indiscriminately with the bottles.

They fled the scene leaving Tofazzal seriously injured.

Afterwards, the locals rushed Tofazzal to the Three-Hundred-Bed Hospital in Khanpur in the city where the doctors declared him dead.

Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station sent the body to Sadar General Hospital for autopsy.

Ripon Ali Khan, sub-inspector of the police station has confirmed that marks of beating with the bottle have been found on Tofazzal’s body.

Though the prime accused is on the run the police are trying to arrest him as soon as possible. Filing of a case in this connection is under process, police informed.

The younger son of Tofazzal Sakib Hasan said his father was the only earning member of the family. He demanded the quick arrest and exemplary punishment of Shajahan and Sumon.
