A group of 10 to 12 armed men allegedly attacked them and looted their valuables.
Six people, including the assistant commissioner (land) of Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla, were injured in an attack by suspected robbers in Narayanganj's Araihazar upazila today (20 June).
The incident took place around 1am in the Dhondi area of Haizadi union, according to local sources.
Araihazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Sabjel Hossain said police visited the scene after being informed of the incident.
"Necessary legal action will be taken following an investigation if a written complaint is filed," he said.
Locals said that Sakib Hasan Khan, assistant commissioner (land) of Muradnagar, had come to his village home in Dhondi on leave. As there was no electricity in the area at the time, he was sitting by the roadside with several friends.
At one stage, a group of 10 to 12 armed men allegedly attacked them and looted their valuables.
The attackers reportedly hacked the victims indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving Sakib Hasan Khan and five others – identified as Mukul, Rajib, Rubel, Faruk and Dalim – injured.
Hearing their screams, local residents rushed to the scene, prompting the attackers to flee.
The injured were first taken to Araihazar Upazila Health Complex and later referred to hospitals in Dhaka for advanced treatment.
