Don’t exaggerate rape, murder of Mastermind student: Police

Police have urged all not to exaggerate the rape and murder of Mastermind School student on social media platforms.

Sajjadur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Ramna Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, has come up with the remark this afternoon while talking to reporters at the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in Dhaka's Segunbagicha.

Soon after the news came on the media, people took to social media using hashtags mentioning the prime accused, Fardin Iftekhar Dihan as a rapist.

The victim's father claimed her daughter to be raped, but it will be confirmed once the forensic report is released, he said, adding that other things will be clear after investigation.

DC Sajjad further said the accused, who is now in police custody, has confessed that he had a friendly relationship with the girl.

He will be placed before a court with a 10-day remand plea, he mentioned.

On Thursday noon, the 17-year-old girl was raped and murdered by her friend Dihan who took her to his empty house for group study in Dhaka's Kalabagan area.

Police immediately arrested Dihan and three others in connection with the incident.

Later, the victim's father filed a case with kalabagan Police Station on Thursday midnight.

According to the case statement, the girl left home around 11:45am on Thursday, for collecting some study materials from her coaching center when her parents were at their respective workplaces.

Around two hours later, victim's mother received a call from Dihan who told that her daughter went to his residence and got fainted all of a sudden. Later, he took her to Anwer Khan Modern Hospital.
