Committee formed to prevent ordinary police from carrying lethal weapons
The government has recently formed a six-member high-profile committee headed by Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on the Ministry of Home Affairs Md Khuda Baksh Chowdhury to ensure that no lethal weapons are given to the ordinary police.
"The committee will make sure that no lethal weapons are given to ordinary police personnel except trained and responsible Armed Police Battalion (APBn) members," said a Home Ministry press release.
The government also formed a seven-member committee with Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Hafiz as the convener, to review the structural, administrative and operational aspects of RAB and provide recommendations for necessary reforms or restructuring.

A five-member committee was also formed with Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on the Ministry of Home Affairs Md Khuda Baksh Chowdhury as the convener to formulate the rules to check overseas travel.
In addition, three separate committees have been entrusted with responsibility to look into the matter of increasing intelligence surveillance nationwide and to strengthen the activities of the law enforcement agencies to uphold the law and order in the country.
Home Adviser Lt Gel Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) presided over the meeting.
