Ctg police seek 7-day remand for 64 arrested in online scam case, hearing Tuesday
The group includes 63 foreign nationals and a Bangladeshi man accused of helping them rent an eight-storey building.
Police have sought seven days' remand for 63 foreign nationals and a Bangladeshi man arrested over their alleged involvement in an online scam in Chattogram's West Khulshi-Jalalabad area.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Mohammad Hasan Iqbal Chowdhury confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today (13 September).
He said police submitted the remand applications in a case filed following the arrest of the 63 foreign nationals.

The hearing is scheduled for 9:30am on 15 September.
Police have also sought to show Mohammad Mohsin, a Bangladeshi national, arrested in a separate case involving the recovery of cocaine, as arrested in the online scam case and place him on seven days' remand.
Mohsin was arrested on 5 September after police recovered 118 grams of cocaine from a courier service in Chattogram. Police later linked him to the foreign nationals, alleging that he had rented an eight-storey building for them.
Khulshi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Abdur Rahim told TBS that Mohsin had sent the cocaine to a person in Dhaka through a courier service several days earlier, but the consignment was later returned.
While investigating the cocaine case, police learned about the 63 foreign nationals, he said.
Hasan Iqbal Chowdhury said the hearing on Mohsin's remand application and the case involving the 63 foreign nationals will be held on 15 September.
Police are investigating the group's alleged involvement in online scamming.
