A local BNP leader has been arrested with a foreign-made pistol during a joint forces operation in Cumilla's Adarsha Sadar upazila early this morning (4 July).

The arrestee, Khokon Mia, 55, is the general secretary of the BNP's Panchthubi union unit. He hails from Chanpur village in the same union and is the son of Yunus Mia.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cumilla Kotwali Model Police Station Mohinul Islam said, "The joint forces recovered a 7.65mm pistol and an empty magazine from his possession. The suspect and the seized weapon have been handed over to our station. We have filed a case, and he will be sent to court."
