On 29 April, Anwar Hossain and another prisoner, Md Iqbal Hossain Imon — an accused in a murder case — escaped police custody while being transferred to a prison van in the Chattogram court area after their court appearances.
According to court sources, the two had been brought from Chattogram Central Jail for scheduled hearings.
They managed to flee during the transfer process, prompting an immediate alert.
Later that same night, police arrested Imon from Tulatoli railway colony in the city's Khulshi area.
With both escapees now back in custody, law enforcement officials are expected to further investigate how the escape occurred and whether there were lapses in police protocol.
