ACC sues ex-civil surgeon among nine for embezzling Tk17cr

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday filed a case against nine people, including former Satkhira civil surgeon, for their alleged involvement in misappropriating Tk17 crore, on the pretext of buying medical equipment for Sadar upazila health complex.

Main accused Dr Tauhidur Rahman, former Satkhira civil surgeon, in collaboration with eight others, reportedly created fake documents to call a tender for procuring different equipment, according to the ACC.

They gobbled up the amount through three fake bills, even though there were no demand orders for buying any apparatus.
