At least three members of RAB-11 were injured last night (30 September) when accomplices of robber gang leader Saheb Ali attacked them in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj area and snatched him away shortly after he had been detained.
The incident occurred around 9pm during a RAB raid in the Bou-Bazaar area of Ward 4 under Narayanganj City Corporation.
According to eyewitnesses, a plainclothes RAB team launched an operation to detain Saheb Ali, a listed robbery ring leader in Siddhirganj. During the raid, they managed to detain him from the Bou-Bazaar area. However, as the team was preparing to transport him to the RAB office, 20–25 of his accomplices attacked the officers and freed the robber.
After the assault, the injured RAB members received first aid at a nearby pharmacy with the help of locals. Later, additional RAB forces reached the scene and evacuated the wounded.
The owner of Bismillah Pharmacy, who treated the injured officials, said, "Four members of law enforcement came to my shop in injured condition. I bandaged their heads and hands. Two of them appeared to be in serious pain, while the other two sustained minor hand injuries."
Another eyewitness, Takul Islam, said, "We saw Saheb Ali being detained and kept in front of a tea stall. Moments later, several men arrived, attacked the law enforcement members, and snatched him away."
The in-charge of the RAB-11 operations team, Qayyum, confirmed the incident. He said, "I have not yet received the full details. The injured members are currently undergoing treatment. Further information will be provided later."
