3 detained in Teknaf over kidnapping after victims escape from hideout
“When RAB members surrounded a house, seven to eight individuals tried to flee. Three were detained, but others managed to escape,” said ASP Faruk

Three members of a kidnapping ring have been detained in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar, following an operation by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) based on information from victims who managed to escape from a hideout earlier in the day.
Confirming the information, RAB-15 Cox's Bazar Battalion Assistant Director (Law and Media) and Assistant Superintendent of Police AM Faruk said the drive was carried out in the Lengurbil Hatiarghona area of Teknaf Sadar union around midnight last night (10 October).
The detainees are Md Hamim, 21, son of Md Kasim from Kutupalong Rohingya Camp No. 4 in Ukhiya upazila; Arafat Ullah, 26, son of Abdur Rahman from Ghonar Para Camp No. 19; and Aktar Hossain, 34, son of Zafar Alam from Lengurbil Hatiarghona in Teknaf Sadar.
According to RAB, three victims who had been held hostage in a secret den managed to escape yesterday morning and later informed law enforcement agencies about their captivity. Acting on their information, RAB conducted a raid at the suspected location later that night.
"When RAB members surrounded a house, seven to eight individuals tried to flee. Three were detained, but others managed to escape," said ASP Faruk.
He added that the kidnappers had lured victims with promises of jobs and opportunities to travel to Malaysia by sea, later holding them hostage and demanding ransom from their families.
A case has been filed against the detainees at Teknaf Police Station under the relevant laws.
