244 arrested today from banned AL's flash procession in Dhaka
Nazrul Islam further said that over 500 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League were arrested during previous operations of DMP in various parts of the capital

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today (24 September) arrested 244 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League and its affiliated organisations during flash processions in the capital.
At a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre this afternoon (24 September), DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Nazrul Islam said police, with the help of locals, also recovered 14 crude bombs and seven banners from the arrestees.
He added that the Awami League activists were arrested from Uttara, Farmgate, and Tejgaon areas.
The majority of the activists had come from outside Dhaka, mainly Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Gazipur, and Gopalganj, the police official said.
Nazrul Islam further added that over 500 leaders and activists of the banned Awami League were arrested during previous operations of the DMP in various parts of the capital.
He warned that the AL activists are orchestrating actions to disrupt law and order situation ahead of the elections.
