2 held with 65 bhori gold at Dhaka airport
A case was filed against the accused at the Airport Police Station

The Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) has detained two men with 761 grams (65.2 bhori) of gold ornaments at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
The detainees are Md Kabir Hossain, a boarding bridge operator of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), and Kuddus.
Confirming the matter, APBn Operational Commander Mohammad Mozammel Haque said, "We are maintaining constant vigilance to prevent smuggling and other crimes at the airport.
"Our operations will continue to stop any attempt to use the airport for illegal activities," he added.
A case was filed against the accused today at the Airport Police Station under the Special Powers Act, 1974.
According to police, the incident occurred around 2:22am on 10 October, when Kabir was seen handing a small handbag to Kuddus in front of Glass Gate No. 3 at Terminal 1.
The exchange drew the attention of nearby passengers, reportedly leading to a commotion. APBn personnel rushed to the spot and questioned the two men. They were then taken to the APBn office for further interrogation.
During a search, police recovered three small blue bags containing four gold bars and other ornaments, weighing a total of 761 grams.
Interrogation revealed that the gold had been smuggled into Bangladesh by unidentified passengers from abroad, bypassing customs, with the intention of trafficking through the airport.
Police claimed the two men had long been involved with a gold smuggling syndicate at the airport, working as receivers of contraband.
Currently, 22-carat gold price stands at Tk 2,09,101 per bhori in Bangladesh.
