The deceased has been identified as Idan Mia, 55, a resident of Muradnagar village

A man was killed and five others were injured in a clash between two factions of the BNP in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila this morning (18 September).
The clash, which involved firearms and local weapons, broke out in the Alokbali area.
The deceased has been identified as Idan Mia, 55, a resident of Muradnagar village. He was a supporter of one of the clashing factions. The identities of the five injured individuals were not immediately known. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Emdadul Haque of Narsingdi Sadar Police Station confirmed the incident.
According to police and local sources, the clash was a result of a long-standing conflict over local dominance and sand extraction from the Meghna River.
The two factions were led by Shah Alam Chowdhury, the convener of the Alokbali Union BNP unit, and the expelled member secretary of the same committee, Abdul Kaiyum Mia. Tensions between the two groups had been growing since 5 August last year.
OC Emdadul stated that upon receiving the news, a police team was dispatched and brought the situation under control.
