Ziaul Ahsan sent to jail in case over Salahuddin's 2015 abduction, enforced disappearance
The ICT has also ordered investigators to submit their report by 27 October.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) today (27 August) ordered former Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan to be shown arrested and sent to jail in a crimes against humanity case over the alleged abduction and enforced disappearance of current Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed in 2015.
The tribunal also directed the prosecution to complete its investigation within two months and submit the investigation report by 27 October.
A three-member bench of ICT-1, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order after a hearing, according to court sources.

Ziaul Ahsan was brought before the tribunal from jail today in line with its 10 August order. The prosecution sought two months to complete the investigation, which the tribunal granted.
On 3 June 2025, Salahuddin filed a complaint with the Chief Prosecutor's Office against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and six others over his alleged enforced disappearance. Ziaul Ahsan was among those named in the complaint.
Salahuddin was allegedly picked up from a house in Uttara on the night of 10 March 2015.
He was found in India's Shillong on 11 May that year. Indian authorities later prosecuted him under the Foreigners Act for entering the country without valid documents.
Salahuddin returned to Bangladesh on 11 August 2024, following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.
