Writ filed seeking judicial probe into Mitford Hospital murder
The petition is expected to be heard tomorrow by the High Court bench of Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua
A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking the formation of a high-powered judicial commission to investigate the killing of scrap trader Chand Mia, also known as Sohag, who was fatally attacked near Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka.
Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akhand filed the writ petition today (13 July), requesting directives for the immediate arrest of the individuals directly involved in the murder.
The petition is expected to be heard tomorrow (14 July) by the High Court bench of Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua.

Sohag was killed on the evening of 9 July when he was beaten and hacked near Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital. His sister later filed a case with Kotwali Police Station, naming 15–20 individuals.
In connection with the murder, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Gias yesterday (12 July) granted a five-day remand for an accused named Titon Gazi.
The investigating officer of the case, Inspector Naseer Uddin of Kotwali Police Station, had applied for a seven-day remand, which the court partially granted after hearing.
In a related arms case, another accused, Tarek Rahman Robin, gave a confessional statement in court.
Sub-Inspector Md Monir, also of Kotwali Police Station and investigating officer in the arms case, submitted a petition to record Robin's statement.
The court accepted the application and recorded his statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Robin was then sent to jail.
Earlier, on Thursday (10 July), the court had granted a five-day remand for Mahmudul Hasan Mohin in the murder case and a two-day remand for Robin in the arms case.
