'Rickshaw-puller shot in Shahjadpur': Actor Siddique placed on 7-day remand over attempt to murder case

A Dhaka court today (30 April) placed actor Siddiqur Rahman on remand for seven days in an attempt to murder case lodged with Gulshan Police Station.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sanaullah passed the order after a hearing on a plea made by police.
Earlier today, police presented Siddique before the court and requested for a 10-day remand to interrogate him.
According to the remand plea, a rickshaw puller named Jobbar Ali Howlader was shot at the capital's Shahjadpur on 19 July 2024.
Remand for Siddique is needed to interrogate him for finding out the culprits who injured Jabbar by gunshot, police said during the remand plea.
Abdus Salam, sub inspector of Gulshan Police Station and investigation officer of the case, made the plea before the CMM court.
Earlier yesterday (29 April), a video became viral on social media where Siddique was seen being beaten and his clothes getting ripped off.
In the video, some youths were seen taking away Siddique forcibly, claiming him to be an agent of Awami League.
Siddique was handed over to Ramna Police Station, from where he was taken to Gulshan Police Station later.
