Jatrabari killings: Anisul, Qamrul, Salman, Palak, 2 others shown arrested
Six people, including former law minister Ansiul Huq, former Awami League presidium member and food minister Qamrul Islam and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman have been shown arrested in three separate cases filed in connection with the killings in the capital's Jatrabari area during last year's mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ariful Islam passed the order after the investigating officers (IOs) of the cases produced the accused before the court with applications to show them arrested in the cases, said Additional Public Prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon.
Three others who have been shown arrested are former ICT state minister Junaid Ahmed Palak, former home secretary Jahangir Alam and former Jatrabari police station OC Abul Hasan.
Anisul, Salman, Palak and Abul Hasan have been shown arrested in Russel Mia murder case following a relevant plea filed by IO of the case, Jatrabari police station Sub-Inspector Mohammad Jahir Uddin.
Besides, Jahangir Alam has been shown arrested in Imran Hasan murder case following a plea filed by IO of the case Md Nahid Hasan, while Kamrul Islam shown arrested in Mehedi Hasan Pantho murder case following a plea from IO of the case Md Fakrul Hasan Faruk.
Russel Mia died after sustaining bullet injuries during a protest at Jatrabari's Kutubkhali area on 19 July, while Imran Hasan was shot to death on 5 August, said respective case statements.
Besides, Mehedi Hasan Pranto succumbed to bullet wounds sustained during a protest programme at Jatrabari's Rayerbagh Bus Stand area on 7 July, said the case statement.
