Govt may form ICT-3 to expedite July killings trials: Asif Nazrul
After visiting the International Crimes Tribunal this morning, he said, “The government is giving the highest priority to the trials of the July-August massacres. The pace of the proceedings is also satisfactory”

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul today (2 September) said the government may form International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-3 to expedite trials of crimes against humanity, including enforced disappearance.
"The government is giving the highest priority to the trials of the July-August massacres. The pace of the proceedings is also satisfactory," he told journalists after inspecting the ICT building and its adjoining areas.
"We are committed to ensuring justice for all crimes committed by the previous government, including killings, enforced disappearances and torture," he added, reports BSS.

He further said, "Once the tin-shed building (now housing ICT-2) adjacent to the main tribunal building becomes vacant, we may establish ICT-3 there. If this can be done, trials of enforced disappearances and other crimes will be expedited."
Asif Nazrul mentioned that judges, along with the prosecution and investigation teams, are working with great sincerity on cases related to crimes against humanity.
"In the interest of the country and the restoration of democracy, it is essential to establish justice, the rule of law and human rights. The trial of the horrific crimes against humanity-such as the killing of more than a thousand students and people during the July uprising and maiming of thousands more-is indispensable and inevitable," he added.
Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Attorney General Mohammad Asaduzzaman, and Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tazul Islam were also present during the visit.
