Later, DB Police (Tejgaon division) Inspector Mohammad Tipu Sultan sought to show Manjil arrested in the Rubel murder case and requested a seven-day remand.
A hearing on the arrest petition was first held at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam, who allowed the application.
A separate hearing on the remand petition was then held before Metropolitan Magistrate Hasib Ullah Pias.
Defence counsel Kamal Hossain sought cancellation of the remand and prayed for bail. The prosecution opposed the plea. After hearing both sides, the court granted a four-day remand.
Manjil Haider was arrested on 9 April from the DOHS area in Mohakhali.
He was later remanded for 12 days in three phases in a New Market Police Station case over the killing of businessman Abdul Wadud.
