A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of properties belonging to deposed former prime minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, sister Sheikh Rehana and two other family members.
Following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain issued the order today (30 April), reports Prothom Alo.
According to ACC, the court ordered the confiscation of a residence owned by Saima Wazed in Baridhara, Dhaka, and 87 decimals of land in Khulna registered under the names of Sheikh Rehana, Joy, and Saima Wazed.
Additionally, 87 decimals of land in Khulna under the names of Rehana's daughter Azmina Siddiq and son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby have also been ordered to be seized
This move follows an order yesterday to seize a Gulshan apartment belonging to Saima Wazed, for which the court also appointed an administrator to oversee the property.
Earlier, on 27 April, the court issued an arrest warrant via Interpol against Saima in connection with a land allocation corruption case.
On 10 April, arrest warrants were also issued against Sheikh Hasina and her daughter Saima in the same case.
On 13 April, arrest warrants were also issued against Hasina, Sheikh Rehana, her daughter Tulip Siddiq, and son Bobby in three separate corruption cases involving irregularities in land allocation.
All three cases name 16 accused, including former state minister for housing and public works Sharif Ahmed.
The ACC began its investigation on 26 December last year into alleged irregular plot allocations involving Sheikh Hasina and her family members in the Purbachal New Town Project.
So far, six cases have been filed by the ACC in connection with this matter.
