Court orders seizure of ex-minister Asaduzzaman Noor's assets, freezes 16 bank accounts
Earlier, on 30 July, the ACC filed a case against Noor for allegedly acquiring wealth worth Tk5.37 crore illegally and for laundering over Tk158.78 crore.

A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of four flats and 10 katha of land owned by former cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor.
The court also ordered authorities concerned to freeze 16 of his bank accounts.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the orders today (15 September), following an application from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said ACC Public Relations Officer Aktarul Islam.
ACC Assistant Director Md Ferdous Rahman filed the application seeking the freezing of both movable and immovable assets of Noor.
The application stated that not all assets acquired by Asaduzzaman Noor could be precisely identified, and to prevent any transfer or disposal of assets during the investigation, it was essential to seize his movable and immovable properties.
Earlier, on 30 July, the ACC filed a case against Noor for allegedly acquiring wealth worth Tk5.37 crore illegally and for laundering over Tk158.78 crore.
The ACC said investigations revealed suspicious transactions worth Tk158.78 crore through 19 bank accounts under his name, involving transfer, conversion, and handling of money, which violate the Anti-Money Laundering Act and ACC regulations.
Noor was arrested on the night of 15 September 2024 from his residence on Bailey Road in Dhaka and has been in jail since.
