Accused Tina placed on 3-day remand in Primeasia student’s murder case

A Dhaka court today (9 May) placed one Faria Haque Tina on a three-day remand in connection with the killing of Zahidul Islam Parvez, a student of the Textile Engineering Department at Primeasia University.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order after police produced the accused before the court and sought a five-day remand for interrogation, reports BSS.
Police arrested Tina on Thursday from Jagannathpur area under Bhatara police station. With her arrest, a total of four individuals have been detained in the case so far.
Confirming her arrest, Inspector AKM Moin Uddin, the operations officer of Banani police station and the investigating officer of the case, said, "This incident centres around two female students. We managed to arrest Tina last night, and efforts are underway to arrest the other female suspect."
On 19 April, the 23-year-old Parvez, a third-year student, and his friend Md Tariqul Islam were attacked with sharp weapons by a group in front of Primeasia University in the city's Banani area.
Parvez sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
On 20 April, Parvez's cousin Humayun Kabir filed a case with Banani Police Station, naming eight individuals and accusing 25 to 30 people in total of involvement in the murder.
Police arrested three other accused on 21 April in connection with the case.
