Govt forms inter-ministerial committee to boost key sectors' export post-LDC graduation
The Ministry of Finance recently issued a notification in this regard.

The interim government has formed a 16-member inter-ministerial committee, led by the principal secretary to the chief adviser, to review recommendations and formulate action plans aimed at enhancing export competitiveness in key sectors after Bangladesh's graduation from the Least Developed Country (LDC) status.
The Ministry of Finance recently issued a notification in this regard.
According to the notice, Bangladesh is set to officially graduate from LDC status on 24 November 2026. After this transition, direct export subsidies or cash incentives will no longer be permissible under global trade rules.
In response, the Finance Division had formed a committee to explore strategies to boost exports in four key sectors: leather and leather goods, jute products, agricultural and processed agricultural products, and pharmaceuticals.
The newly formed inter-ministerial committee includes the governor of Bangladesh Bank and secretaries from the Finance Division, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Textiles and Jute, and the Health Services Division.
Other members include the chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the director general of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), the vice chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the director general of the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), the chairman of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), and the president of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).
The director general of the Chief Adviser's Office will serve as the member secretary of the committee.
This committee's primary responsibility will be to assess the feasibility of implementing the Finance Division's proposed support measures based on the government's capacity.
It will also develop a time-bound action plan for these measures. Additionally, the committee will have the authority to consider and recommend other relevant support mechanisms beyond those proposed, based on current realities and sectoral needs.
