Mitford horror repeats: Night guard in Narayanganj bludgeoned to death
Police have so far arrested three suspects

A horrifying video of night guard Abu Hanif (30) being mercilessly bludgeoned to death in Narayanganj has gone viral on social media, capturing the barbarity of 5–7 assailants bludgeoning him repeatedly with bricks, eerily echoing the recent killing of a trader in front of the Mitford Hospital in Dhaka.
Hanif was allegedly dragged from his home around noon on Monday and taken to Khanpur's Jora Tanki ground, where he endured repeated, savage beatings. Reports suggest the attackers accused him of attempting to sexually assault a child.
After being mercilessly beaten and left unconscious on the street, locals found him and rushed him to Narayanganj 300-bed Hospital, where on-duty medical officer Dr Shahadat Hossain pronounced him dead around 9pm, sending shockwaves of horror and grief through the community.
Police have so far arrested three suspects: Bahar (36) and his brother Saidul Islam (25) from Sayestara village, Muradnagar, Comilla, and Mushfiqur Rahman Jitu (29), son of Shafiqul Rahman from Metrohall, Narayanganj.
Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station's officer-in-charge (OC), Md Nasir, said, "We are analysing the video footage to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects. The investigation is ongoing."
According to family members, Hanif, originally from Sharankhola in Bagerhat and father of three, was attacked around noon when he was at home. His younger sister, Rabeya, said, "Around 12pm, some local youths came to our house and dragged my brother away without giving a reason. Later, they claimed he had tried to sexually assault a child, but we weren't given any details."
Hanif's brother-in-law, Md Ibrahim, said he rushed home from work after receiving a call about the incident. "By the time I arrived, they had taken him to the Jora Tanki field of Khanpur. Around 10–12 young men were there, including a local named Ovi. Later, they dragged him in an auto rickshaw and left. We found him at the hospital much later," he added.
The police continue to hunt for other accomplices involved in the crime as the community reels from the brutal killing.
