The petition was submitted before the relevant branch of the High Court today, confirmed the petitioners’ lawyer Nazmus Sakib.
Four candidates have filed a writ petition with the High Court seeking to postpone the 50th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary examination, originally scheduled for 30 January.
The petition was submitted before the relevant branch of the High Court today (28 January), confirmed the petitioners' lawyer Nazmus Sakib.
He said that the writ will be placed for hearing soon before a bench comprising Justice Razik-al-Jalil and Justice Md Anowarul Islam.
Advocate Nazmus Sakib told TBS that the hearing on this writ may be held on Thursday (29 January).
The petition requests that the 50th BCS preliminary exam be rescheduled to a date after the 13th national parliamentary election, which will be held on 12 February.
The petition lists the cabinet secretary, the chairman and members of the Public Service Commission (PSC), the Controller of Examinations, and the Chief Election Commissioner as respondents.
According to the petition, a group of candidates, led by Enamul Haque, submitted a memorandum to the PSC Chairman on 20 January, urging the suspension of all exams during the election campaign period. As their representation did not yield any response, the four candidates filed the writ.
The petition seeks a rule directing that the PSC take legal action on the 20 January representation, and requests that the circular issued on 26 November, which scheduled the 50th BCS preliminary exam for 30 January, be stayed pending the court's decision.
