A teacher of Comilla University's Department of Mass Communication and Journalism has been accused of leaking questions for the 3rd year 2nd semester final exam, prompting the authorities to postpone the exam which was scheduled to start tomorrow (13 March).

The allegation was raised in an anonymous email sent to the university's vice-chancellor, deputy vice-chancellor, treasurer, proctor, examination controller's office and several journalists.

Confirming the matter, Mahmudul Hasan, acting head of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, said, "We have announced the postponement of the exam. However, since this allegation came from an anonymous email, we are not able to take any direct action. Further action will be taken if the students file a written complaint."

The email alleges that Assistant Professor Kazi M Anisul Islam leaked the questions and gave them to a female student.

When contacted, Anisul said, "This is a completely baseless and fabricated allegation. I did not provide questions to anyone."

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Masuda Kamal said, "We have not received a written complaint yet. We will take action accordingly if the department or students submit a written complaint."

The university's Controller of Examinations (acting) Mohammad Nurul Karim Chowdhury said, "We have spoken to the chairman of that department. First, the academic committee of the department will look into the matter. Then a decision will be taken after investigating the matter."
