Ex-industries minister Nurul Majid, his wife sued over amassing Tk9.28 crore illegally

The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed two separate cases against former industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun and his wife Nadira Mahmud over allegations of acquiring Tk9.28 crore of wealth illegally.
The commission's Director General Akhtar Hossain gave the information at a press briefing in the ACC headquarters in Dhaka today (8 April).
According to the ACC, Nurul Majid allegedly acquired wealth worth Tk7.94 crore illegally and made suspicious transactions worth Tk102.02 crore through 13 bank accounts.
A case has been filed against him under the Anti-Corruption Commission Act and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
His wife Nadira Mahmud allegedly acquired wealth worth Tk1.34 crore illegally.
According to the case statement, while Nurul Majid was serving as a public official, Nadira acquired the assets inconsistent with her known sources of income, allegedly using her husband's influence.
