ACC raids Red Crescent office over graft allegations

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) raided the Moghbazar office of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society today (4 April), following allegations of widespread corruption, including tender manipulation, irregular transfers, and unlawful recruitment.
The operation was led by Assistant Director Ashikur Rahman from the ACC headquarters, Deputy Director Akhtarul Islam told the media.
According to ACC, the raid was prompted by credible complaints of embezzlement, abuse of power, and illegal appointments within the organisation.
Preliminary findings revealed irregularities in a building construction contract and substantiated the allegations of corruption, including leaked recruitment questions and procedural violations.
The ACC team has collected relevant documents and is expected to submit a detailed report to the commission after a full review of the evidence, said Akhtarul Islam.
