Constable's body found in Jatrabari police outpost toilet
Police are investigating the incident, says Jatrabari Police Station OC Mohammad Raju.
Police recovered the body of a constable hanging from a rope tied to the ventilator of a toilet at Jatrabari Police Outpost in Dhaka this morning (28 January).
Initial police assessments suggest Shafikul Islam, 42, posted at the outpost and hailing from Chandpur, may have committed suicide.
Jatrabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Raju told The Business Standard that the toilet was not in regular use, adding that a cleaner found the body while cleaning the facility in the morning.
The OC said police are initially assuming it to be a case of suicide.
According to him, the constable sent a message to his elder daughter last night saying, "I could not do anything for you. Please forgive me."
Police are investigating the incident, he said, adding that the body has been sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
