Commerce ministry cancels export trophy programme for FY23
The decision was announced through a gazette notification issued today.
The National Export Trophy is awarded every year in recognition of contributions to the export sector through foreign currency earnings and employment generation. But the Ministry of Commerce has cancelled all activities related to awarding the National Export Trophy for the 2022-23 fiscal year.
The decision was announced through a gazette notification issued today (29 January).
When contacted, Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman told The Business Standard today that the award had been governed by the National Export Trophy Policy formulated in 2022, under which preparations for awarding the trophy for the 2022-23 fiscal year had begun.
However, he said a new policy has since received approval from the advisory council. As a result, the previous process initiated under the old policy has been cancelled to pave the way for awarding the National Export Trophy for FY23 under the newly approved policy.
The most recent export trophy awards were conferred on 14 July 2024, when a total of 77 companies received the honour as winners for the 2021-22 fiscal year.
